Latest Event Updates
Heat assignments are now available for the Albany Community Tri taking place on Sunday 9/25. Please check either one of these listings to determine your heat number and start time before race day:
If you are a member of a relay team, only your team captain’s name will be listed. Super Youth will start at 11:00 am.
Aim to arrive at the Albany Aquatic Center at least 1 hour before your start time, possibly earlier if you need more time to prepare and to catch one of the pre-race announcements at 7:35am, repeated at 9:00am. Generally, if you are in heats 1-5, try to arrive to the venue around 7:00 am. If you are in a later heat, arrive around 8:00 am.
Pick up your race packet in advance at Road Runner Sports on Sat 9/24 between 12-4pm. Packet pickup will also be available on race day, though picking it up on Sat will ease congestion at the registration table.
Your race packet will contain a very important item: your timing chip — don’t forget to bring your timing chip with you on race day! Best to put it on your ankle when getting dressed first thing on Sunday morning.
There are other items in the packet you’ll need on race day as well, such as your security bracelets that will be labeled with your bib number and heat assignment. One goes on your wrist, the other goes on your bike frame — put those on as well. To be safe, bring your race packet with you on race day and volunteers will assist you putting things on.
The weather is looking great for race day. Here’s wishing everyone a fun & safe & energizing time at the 7th annual AlbanyTri! 🙂
Update 9/23/16 2:41pm: Heat assignment listings were updated to include relay team names, and one heat assignment fix.
Update 9/24/16 10:39pm: Included club affiliation column. Listing by NAME is now sorted by name globally, not per division. Listing by HEAT is secondarily sorted by NAME, not bib #.
The AlbanyTri has had overwhelming interest this year and, for the first time in our 7-year history, we are nearly sold out before race day. Wow! Thanks to all participants (nearly 250 of you) and sponsors for your interest. Our beneficiary (Albany Athletics Boosters) really appreciates your contribution which will surely set a new record this year.
To make things go smoother on race day and ensure we can produce a quality event for all, we will NOT be accepting walk-in registrations on race day Sunday 9/25.
However, we will be accepting a small number of registrations at packet pickup on Saturday 9/24 at Road Runner Sports (12-4pm). There are 10 available slots for the main course (individual participants only, ages 9+). First come, first served.
Sorry if you missed out this year, but come out on race day to spectate, cheer, and possibly volunteer — a fine way to cap off Albany Local Week.
Want to save time on race day? Come to Road Runner Sports on Saturday September 24 from 12 noon to 4 PM and you can pick up a packet containing all race day materials and swag bag and complete the waiver sign-in. This will allow you to avoid congestion at the registration table on race day and is strongly recommended for all registrants.
Bring a photo ID. At packet pickup, you can also confirm your swim heat assignment and ask questions about the course. At packet pickup, we’ll also be taking a limited number of registrations if you still need to sign up. There will be no race day registration this year.
If you can’t make it to packet pick up, consider sending a family member or friend to pick up your packet — just have them bring your ID or other proof of authorization.
Road Runner Sports is located at 1326 10th Street in Berkeley, near Office Depot and T Rex. And check out their selection of triathlon gear while you’re there. Our sponsors deserve your support!
With ONE MONTH to go before the Albany Community Triathlon on Sun 9/25 at 8am, the AlbanyTri organizers hope everyone had a great summer and are getting stoked for the event. If you haven’t yet registered and plan to race this year, there’s still time to sign up before the next price bump on 9/12 (after the Solano Stroll). Sign up on our registration page.
The first SWIM & TRIATHLON TRAINING CLINIC will take place this SUNDAY 8/28 at 9:00am at the Albany Aquatic Center. We’ll cover some general triathlon tips and will get in the water to work on swimming techniques to boost your power and confidence in the water. Details and registration links for the clinics can be found here.
To confirm your registration for the Albany Community Triathlon (and make any changes to your info), go to the following web page and click the “Confirm Registration” link (on the right side of the page if you’re on a desktop browser):
You’ll then get prompted to enter your email address that was used for registration. If you’ve registered, it will send you an email message containing the confirmation link. Visit that page if you want to review your registration info and make any changes. If you haven’t registered yet (or you entered the wrong email address), you’ll get an error message: “We could not process your request.” In that case, either try a different email, or head over to https://albanytri.com/register/ to sign up!
Interested in boosting your swimming technique? Have any general questions about how to do or train for a triathlon? Come to one (or both) of the clinics at the Albany Aquatic Center to get some advice and pointers to help boost your confidence on race day for the Albany Community Triathlon (Sunday 9/25/16).
Clinics will be run by Steve Trutane (triathlete and a race organizer) and Carol Nip (certified USMS masters swim coach). See links below for more details and registration:
- Clinic 1: Sunday 8/28/16, 9:00-10:30am – clinic 1 details & registration

If you are interested in getting some open water coaching, check out this clinic on Sat 8/27/16 at the Richmond Plunge and Keller Cove, organized by RichmondSwims.org. You need to be a current USMS member to participate in that clinic.
And don’t forget to register for the AlbanyTri soon. The next price bump happens on 9/12/16 (after the Solano Stroll). Race organizers will be at the Albany Athletic Boosters booth at the Solano Stroll and will be accepting registrations and talking about the race there, as we’ve done in previous years.

Kids ages 5-8 can now join the multisport fun at the Albany Community Triathlon!
New for 2016 is a “super youth” division to accommodate those high-energy tots. The super youth course is a very short version of the main course: 1 lap in the pool (25y), one lap on the bike (0.5mi), and a half lap around the park (0.25mi).
There will be just 1 or 2 super youth heats which will start after the main course participants have cleared the pool (approximately 11am).
The super youth also qualify for a super price! Registration is now available for all categories of participants (adult, regular & super youth, and teams). Sign up today and best of luck to all in your training this summer!
